Direct Action Art!

  • The beauty of art, the people who make it, and the land that inspires it should go hand in hand with those who enjoy it.

  • The fine art prints from It's OWL That! directly connect your purchase with the Arctic ecosystem and global food security for all.

  • Your art purchase employs Inuit people engaged in meaningful work that shares their traditional knowledge and inspires the beauty of the Arctic ecosystem.  It also funds the installation of edible education sites in communities where you live.  These sites inspire, educate, and share fruit trees, berry bushes, and other edible landscape plants to help change neighborhoods to be more food secure and less reliant on our fossil-fuel hungry global food system.

  • Our current funding is going to build food forest in an Anishanaabe community helping foster connections between peoples across Canada and building resilience on the ground through edible tree plantings.

  • The outcome of all this is improved food security for communities in the Arctic and elsewhere, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that continue to threaten arctic ice melt and habitat for arctic wildlife, as well as reducing the threat of oil and gas exploration in the north.

  • Direct Action Art sustains arctic communities through supporting good employment in the north, funding food security initiatives in more southern communities, which reduces climate change effect on the Arctic ecosystem and the need for more oil and gas development.  As a testimony, a single fruit tree in your neighborhood can yield 300 pounds of fruit annually while purifying air, water, and building soil.  It can also provide beauty and sense of wellbeing.
